Tips for the Yips
To some, golf is a game of class and sophistication. To others, its a means of relaxation and unwinding. To mothers, it’s a way to get the kids out of the house. Whatever it really may be to people, one thing remains certain: Golf is the most fascinating and challenging game on the face of the planet (the exception being Dube Bridge). As such, it requires practice in order to harness certain skills regarding techniques which can help you putt better. Recently, I have had some serious difficulty with my putting. My solution was to build a 24/7 practice putting green out my back door complete with a Yamaha sound system and solar screen panels. This addition along with massive amounts of iced tea, Dr. John and hours of practice putting have cured my yips. Here some additional tips for the yips
First, always remember that relaxed arms are good arms. This allows you to have a better swing which hits the ball the right way. Tense arms are no good. A quick solution is to down about a half bottle of Aleve. Once youre relaxed, take a smooth calculated swing. This will bring you a little closer to your well deserved one putt.
Second, make sure that you know how to measure the distance of the ball from the hole. This is an important skill. A simple trick is to carry a tape measure or better yet… simply lay down on the green and calculate according to your height.
Third, you must always consider the natural bumps of the ground whenever you putt. Since golf is played on grassy grounds, you can expect that it isnt as smooth as you always want it to be. As such, feel free to smooth, mash, press and finesse the grass as needed. If this doesn’t help, just pretend to mark your ball and then move it where you want it.
The last guideline for putting is that all spectators, caddies and other non-players (known as markers, that would be Robert) need to be silent. You see, golf is a sport which requires much concentration and no distraction. As such, everyone must try to stay away from making sudden loud noises when YOU are putting. Keep this in mind whenever youre around someone whos trying to putt and feel free to burp.. loud.
Now that you know all these inside tips, grab a club and a caddie! Its time for you to unleash the Tiger within you. And remember, to shoot lower scores, play fewer holes.

...here’s a little putting tip from me…
(1) When your ball is on the green, take several clubs out of your bag and lay them end to end between your ball and the hole.
(2) Step on each of the clubs. This will create a small ditch in the green for your ball to travel in directly to the hole.
(3) Quickly move to the next tee before the golfers behind you arrive at the green you were using this technique on.
